Doug Sandbrook serves as the Director of EMS Education and EMS Liaison for SUNY Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, NY. With more than 35 years of public safety experience, he has served across multiple disciplines, including EMS, fire service, law enforcement, emergency management, and homeland security. The majority of his career has been dedicated to EMS, with operational experience in urban, suburban, and rural communities.

Doug believes EMS is a truly unique profession, providing the opportunity to work in a dynamic, ever-changing environment while helping people in their moments of greatest need. EMS providers are invited into the lives of complete strangers and given the opportunity to make a meaningful difference, solve problems, and provide care. Even when they may not realize it, the work they do can change someone’s life forever. Doug is fortunate to love what he does and is proud to be part of the EMS profession.
