Alexa Cappola, LMSW, is the Crisis Stabilization Center Program Lead for the Bureau of Crisis, Emergency, and Stabilization Initiatives at the New York State (NYS) Office of Mental Health (OMH). She joined OMH in October 2021 to work on the development and implementation of Crisis Stabilization Centers across NYS; a newly certified program, jointly operated by both the NYS OMH and the Office of Addiction Services and Supports (OASAS). Prior to joining OMH, she worked in the hospital system, specifically in psychiatric emergency rooms and inpatient units as a Patient Care Technician, and later on in her career as a Social Worker. Alexa has a diverse background in both policy development and clinical social work. She is dedicated to the development, and enhancement, of person-centered, trauma-informed, and recovery-oriented crisis services in NYS.
