Emily Kaplan, Dr.P.H.’21, M.P.A, EMTP, is a leader in mobile integrated health care, as well as an educator in emergency medical services. She is a nationally recognized expert in emergency medical services workforce planning and development. Prior to joining New York Medical College, Dr. Kaplan served as national director of the Clinical Practice Group at DocGo, supporting mobile integrated health endeavors. Before joining DocGo, Dr. Kaplan was director of the Montefiore Einstein Center for Innovation in Simulation supporting Albert Einstein Medical College students, and Montefiore Medical Center, quality improvement, residency and attending programs. At Northwell Health System, she led and developed education and quality improvement programs for Phelps Hospital. Dr. Kaplan has managed regional EMS quality improvement initiatives including developing Electronic Healthcare Record adoption and integration policies. She is also an adjunct faculty member at State University New York (SUNY) Westchester Community College’s medical billing and coding certificate program and paramedic program.
Dr. Kaplan has practiced as a paramedic for more than 20 years and continues to practice in Westchester County. Her research interests include emergency medical services workforce development, health status and readiness of the workforce, as well as delivery models of integrated care. Her career has been dedicated to the development of the EMS workforce, emergency health care management, quality improvement, patient safety and novel delivery models of integrated health care. Dr. Kaplan has presented and advised on the development of EMS systems both nationally and abroad.
