This course is tailored for First Responders, focusing on proper use of air monitoring equipment—specifically the 4-Gas meter. While many responders know how to power on a meter, few truly understand what the readings mean or how to interpret alarms during dynamic incidents, putting them at significant risk.
Air monitoring training is often lacking across Awareness, Operations, and Technician-level programs. The Meter Guys’ Air Monitoring course fills this critical gap by providing expert-led instruction that includes lectures, case studies, and hands-on training with meters and real-world DOT-transported chemical scenarios.
Participants will gain a deeper understanding of calibration, bump testing, peak readings, STEL (Short-Term Exposure Limit), and fresh air calibration. Each component of the 4-Gas meter (LEL, O₂, CO, H₂S) will be explained in detail, helping responders make informed decisions during hazardous incidents such as tanker accidents, gas leaks, confined space entries, and carbon monoxide calls.
During the course, students will experience meter alarms firsthand using our provided meters—eliminating the need to recalibrate your agency’s equipment post-training. Ultimately, this course empowers EMS and fire responders to better recognize hazards, provide safer patient care, and reduce long-term health risks, including occupational cancer.
