Description
This session will provide the audience with current research on the impact of cumulative stress and trauma exposure on various uniformed personnel discipline with a focus on known impacts within the field of EMS providers. The session will then detail the workforce wellness and resilience model CARES UP developed by the Suicide prevention Center of New York State. CARES UP stands for: •Changing the Conversation •Awareness •Resilience •Empowering Peers •Skills Building and Suicide Prevention for •Uniformed Personnel Examples from previous and currently funded recipients of CARES UP funding will be spotlighted as to the positive organizational changes that can occur because of using the model. The session will end with a call to action of what participants can do to implement the CARES UP model and associated elements within their respective departments.
