EMS providers are prepared for whatever whenever an emergency arises. From the run of the mill medical calls to the most complex traumas, the training and education prepares EMS providers for almost any situation they may encounter. What if these routine incidents included an added layer of complication? What if these routine calls involve going into one of the most secure types of environments in the country? What if these routine situations occurred inside of a correctional facility. This presentation will discuss some of the operational considerations for responding to correctional facilities, safety considerations when responding to correctional facilities, and some of the common medical and trauma complaints that EMS providers may encounter behind the wall of correctional facilities.
